Ladies and gentlemen , welcome to another Bulletproof for BJJ podcast. I am J T hello guys. I’m Joey. And today we will be talking about your ultimate BJ J holiday. Now this is the thing that does come , come up from time to time. Uh , people want to go and travel to compete, or people want to go on holiday, but they want to get their jujitsu in. And there’s lots of options. Now. Jujitsu is everywhere around the world. So you could go to Italy or you could go it’s bigger than sex tourism. Well, I don’t know too much about the sex. Do tell Joe , I mean, I’m more into BJ J tourism than sex, tourism, tourism, but yeah, I mean, you know, I mean, depends on where you obviously like to be in different parts of the world. Steven saga , however, spends a lot of time in the Philippines. Apparently he’s been there more than 200 times. Wow. Yeah , there you go. I , this on another podcast

Hundreds , I’m not saying anything about cigar , but you can connect . Like you just did say something about cigar and Steven , if you’re listening, Joey’s ready for that Aikido hand . I thought you were great and hard to kill. Yeah, well, I thought he was great. And under siege under siege two and everything else is garbage. Uh , moving on. What I wanted say, guys is, you know, I’ve traveled and trained and for some of you out there, you’ve probably done a bit of travel. Not that the it’s happened so much recently, but it’s coming back. So if you were going to have your ultimate BJJ holiday, kind of, where would you go? How would you do it now? For me, I’ve spent a fair bit of time in Brazil and gone different places in Brazil. So if we are looking at it from a purely tourism perspective , um , I’m gonna say that Rio is the nicest place from a tourist perspective, even though jujitsu and SA Paulo is amazing. But if you go further south down to Flo monos , Florea , it’s amazing. They , they have jujitsu there, you know, and there’s amazing beaches and parties and stuff there, but then obviously America, United States, there’s so many go places, all around Florida. Great place to go on holiday, bunch of jujitsu there, New York, great tourist destination, great jujitsu there. Like it’s you can go so many places. So what is the ultimate? You got a month. Let’s not put a budget on it. We kind of, you know, a bit of fantasy here. What’s your ultimate? Well, I think for me personally, I would do , uh, two weeks in California because like coming from Australia can go to the kind of west coast. And there’s so much to do to all , all through California. Like I think the greatest just on mass. And I’m not saying if you’re anywhere else in America, don’t get upset. If you are from the Midwest. And you’ve got , you know, if you’re from Pedigo submission from Daisy fresh mother , I’m from Daisy fresh . We got the jujitsu . It’s frozen out here, but you love it. You love it. I mean, the cornfield are great. No, I mean, I have , you’ve been to Cali . Fujis I’ve been to C a bunch. That’s probably the place in America. I’ve been the most, even though I do recognize this jujitsu all over this states , but in terms of actual concentration of jujitsu academies , California has the most. Yeah . So if you are someone who’s like, right, I want to go and train and maybe train with my heroes, or I want to like go to Atos or I want to go to jujitsu university or go to Lovato’s jujitsu or wherever. Like there’s so many people in California. Yeah . Even MMA. There’s so many MMA gyms, famous MMA gyms. And I feel like connecting with people in jujitsu , but now the new hub is Texas. Right? Everybody’s avoiding those taxes. They’re down in Texas. Yeah . No income tax down there. No COVID down there. Yeah, man. That’s 18 . No testing. Yeah . Yeah. You don’t wanna have to pay all those royalties from your BJJ DVDs to the government. But uh , I mean, that’s why they’re all there. Right? But that said, I feel like a holiday. That’s the thing. Now. Some people don’t love LA that’s fine. San Diego is amazing. It’s a great city. And there’s also great jujitsu. You go to Attos so you go wherever you want to go. Well, with the , with the , I mean, the beauty is, yeah, you can train JTS anywhere. And like, we’ve both been to south Paul and spent time training there. And there’s some amazing jujitsu there, but it’s a, a tough city city to be in . It’s terrible. The traffic’s terrible. Joe sells the weather’s terrible. Yeah. Like it’s really expensive. It’s a hardcore city. Yeah . And it just, you know, it’s, it’s not easy to travel. It’s it’s not a lot of on , you said Rio is , is like, if you’re in Brazil, Rios like a really obvious pick . Cause it’s by the beach. There’s like parties and going on. Oh mate. You can go to the beach and train calisthenics . They’ve got good outdoor gyms everywhere. Yeah. Like it’s it’s and there’s juice bars and. You can eat well. And I , with the protein and Beema yeah. Like it’s, you know, it’s lot of nice looking people around. Oh mate . It’s really , um , except for Copa cabana . If you go to co cabana , you’re gonna get robbed. I don’t care what the songs say. Copa co cabana , as long as you be line from wherever you like , you get robbed . But then kids from the fave , you just don’t stop and talk. You just go, go to , if they ask you for chick Le , if you got a young kid asking you for gum , don’t stop. Next minute, they’re pulling out a revolver and you are . That happened to a bunch of friends of mine. We were staying in , um , in Baja. So , uh , Baja UCA . So little river over the river, whatever. And some tough MMA guys from Europe and went, yeah, we’re gonna go to cope night market. And we’re like, yeah, cool. They lost everything. Wallets, keys, shoes. Like the guys came back virtually naked. They were like, they were like crying. They got robbed by kids. 12 year olds with pistols man. Not brutal, man. Not round . No. So they look , let’s put it in context. I’m gonna say two weeks in, in Cali . Yeah. Even though there’s lots of other places I’d like to go and train. Yeah. Two weeks in Cali . And I would, I would do two weeks in Rio, even though I have friends in south Paul , I might duck down to see him . If I just had a month, you go beach to beach, beach to beach, sun C to Rio . I like it. Can’t hate on that. No. And I mean, we’ve got the , you’ve got the, of the SAE and the delicious beers on tap and whatever happening in Rio. Oh yeah. And then you’ve also got the delicious , uh , Mexican influence with the incredible street tacos and burritos. Amazing. At very cheap prices. I might add so cheap in Southern Cali . Oh , it’s so good. I mean the quality of the Mexican food there cannot be overstate. It’s amazing. And I think coming for, from an Aussie white bread perspective, Mexican food is underrated. Like people fresh. Good. Mexican is incredible. Yeah. So if you haven’t been to south America or you haven’t been to different states in , in America where you have a large Mexican influence, you’re missing out central America, central America. Yeah. Those Mexicans down there. No. Well, I mean, no, no , because you know , when I used to work in the film industry, yes, we would have , uh , this is my job before I was in fitness guys. And we would have American production companies come and make films here in Australia, which has been happening for a long time. Yeah . So they come out all the , all the top dogs are American and then all of the kind of crew like us or Australian, they would call us. This was their derogatory term for us that they didn’t say to face to face . But , but they referred to us as Mexicans with cell phones , rude mother Savage is that that’s so rude. Cause they’re like, ah , it’s like some little backwater country. It’s cheap. They’ll do anything. They’ll work all day. You don’t have to pay them much, but they do have bit of technology. Geez , Louise, I’ll tell you where I’d go. I’d spend two weeks in Rio as well. I was second that I love being able to train, being able to go straight to the beach, being able to get an SA smoothie, some protein like all within a couple of blocks. Uh , you know, you staying at a host or whatever. I would go to Tokyo. Well, Japan, this is , I loved training there. It’s you got that. It’s completely different. It’s like wild metropolis. Busiest. Yep . Hectic. But you know, if anyone who hasn’t been to, to Tokyo, it’s like really easy to get around. Everyone’s really nice. It’s super fascinating. Cuz culturally Japan’s wild. Yes. And you’ve just got these jujitsu gyms that are training till like four in the morning. Yeah. Like you just rock up at any time and there’s people grappling. I was gonna say that that is something I know nothing of, but everyone I speak to has had good experiences. Like I , I dunno anyone. I spoke to even separate to jujitsu just like Japan, man. It’s crazy. You gotta get around it. Oh , you know, I love judo and that’s kind of like my pretensions to try and get good at judo. I’d love to train judo in Japan. Like that would be the motherland. So man, I think that that would be the caveat, you know, like it would , it would be pretty. And I intend actually this year to try and get over to Japan. Ah , awesome. Little sneak. Are they gonna let you in? I believe they’re not letting anyone in. Not yet. Right? Give , give it , give it six months. Give it eight months. We’ll see. We’ll see how it goes. I think if you are considering cuz travel is coming back and you know, people are getting worried about delays and isolation and , and that’s all kind of part of the course in the next little while. I actually think a good friend of mine had said to me, I think traveling will be better now because the less people are doing it. So there’s gonna be less kind of touristy action. People taking annoying selfies and doing that. There’s less of the mob. So even though there is a risk of different issues, travel will be better prior to everybody hitting back on travel. It’s not a bad point. The only downside is gonna be more expensive of of course, of course flights are gonna not be what they were. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But I think that there’s people who I know who are already traveling, who said it was cheap because it hasn’t hit back and all these flights are going, they’re trying to fill seats. Oh , right. So that’s, that’s the counterpoint to that. Yeah . But I , I wanna encourage everyone. My goal is July of this year to get out on an bit of an international hit. So Bulletproof might be coming to a town near you. Keep your eyes peeled, stay tuned, pace .
